Multi-level light-duty shelving can provide a simple way to organise cartons, packaged goods, office supplies, spare parts and other hand-loaded items. Narrower bays can fit into smaller rooms, while longer rows can create clear stock zones in a larger storeroom.

Before choosing the unit, confirm the heaviest expected shelf load and the dimensions of the stored items. Shelf spacing should make full use of the available height without making frequently handled products difficult to reach. A practical aisle should also be retained for replenishment, picking and stock checks.

Open-Wire Shelving for Visibility and Flexible Positioning

Open-wire shelving offers clear visibility through each level and allows air to move around suitable stored goods. Units fitted with castors may also be repositioned when the layout, cleaning routine or work area changes.

Mobility and open construction do not remove the need for correct loading. Shelf capacity, castor rating, floor condition, product stability and the suitability of the material for the operating environment should all be confirmed before use. Mobile units should be positioned and secured according to their intended application.

Plan the Whole Storage Area, Not Just Each Rack

A useful layout considers how people and goods move through the room. Rack rows should not obstruct doors, equipment, building services or essential access routes. Frequently picked items should be easy to reach, and the proposed arrangement should leave enough room for the intended replenishment method.

Future requirements matter too. Adjustable or modular shelving can make later changes easier, but any reconfiguration must remain compatible with the confirmed loading and system design. Reviewing likely product growth at the planning stage can help avoid an arrangement that becomes restrictive too quickly.
